NY Deer Population Survives a Rough Winter

(TUPPER LAKE, NY) – The state DEC says the state’s white tailed deer population survived a rough winter. Drought conditions and early snow last fall put the deer at risk. November’s snowfall was double the average. The heavy snow hampered deer movements to late season food sources. A couple of thaws and warmer-than-average temperatures may have helped the deer get through the winter.
